biography

Akhil Vohra practices in commercial litigation and dispute resolution, with a focus on construction and contractual disputes. He also has a solicitor’s practice with respect to construction matters.
Akhil approaches litigation and dispute resolution pragmatically, with a view to finding the most efficient and cost-effective solutions for his clients. He has appeared before the Court of King’s Bench of Alberta, the Provincial Court of Alberta, and before various Arbitration Tribunals, including in International Chamber of Commerce Arbitrations.
Akhil represents developers, owners, contractors, and subcontractors in construction disputes. He has experience in dealing with complex builders’ lien matters, delay claims, productivity claims, deficiency claims, bonding claims, and other disputes arising from construction projects.
In his solicitor’s practice, Akhil has experience in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating construction contracts and related contract documents for various types of construction projects. The unique combination of litigation and solicitor’s work in Akhil’s construction law practice allows him to be a convenient and trusted advisor to his construction clients.
Akhil obtained his J.D. from the University of Victoria’s Faculty of Law after acquiring a Bachelor of Commerce degree in Finance at the University of Calgary. In 2012, he was a recipient of the McCarthy Tétrault LLP scholarship in memory of John Finlay, awarded to a student with outstanding performance in legal skills, ethics, advocacy courses, or mooting.
