HR Generalist

Successful candidate will have:

Reporting to the Sr. HR Business Partner this role supports the processes of an optimal employee experience during all stages of the employee life cycle; is committed to excellent administration of payroll and health & wellness benefits; and provides general accounting and administration support as needed.

  • Support the Sr. HR Business Partner in the delivery of employee programs including the performance enhancement and total, compensation processes, reward & recognition programs, employee engagement survey, and the OHS program
  • Assist and support a recruitment process that promotes the Firm’s employee value proposition
  • Facilitate a robust pre/onboarding experience that promotes the Firm’s culture
  • Support the process of sourcing and implementing an HRIS or employee portal
  • Create & maintain employee data reporting that informs decision making such as turnover, absenteeism, training, etc.
  • Manage the paid time off tracking system; provide reports as needed
  • Facilitate an integrity driven off boarding process
  • Lead the delivery of the Firm’s Learning Management System (CarscallenU):
  • distribute system training programs so the right people have access to the right programs at the right time
  • in collaboration with the HRBP and other leaders, support development of learning content that promotes continuous streams of learning
  • prepare reports as needed to inform leadership on usage and program viability
  • Administer semi monthly payroll on time and with great accuracy
  • Administer health and wellness benefits (Alberta Blue Cross, RBC disability/gsi/critical illness/EAP) ensuring accurate records at all times; create and deliver education and information to promote benefit program awareness
  • In collaboration with the staff accountant, post & reconcile disbursements; post bills and write-offs, sort & file bills, post and receipt credit cards
  • File management - identify, classify and store files; co-ordinate internal and external access

Must have the following qualifications:

  • Excellent interpersonal skills; able to quickly build & strengthen relationships
  • Ability to communicate with honesty and kindness, and create the space for others to do the same
  • Confident and self-motivated, with the ability to work with little supervision
  • High level of integrity and work ethic
  • Understanding of Labor Law and employment equity standards and regulations
  • Efficient HR administration and people management skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills + meticulous attention to detail
  • Efficient computer literacy with strong capability in MS suite of products
  • Strong organizational, conflict management, decision-making, and problem-solving skills
  • General accounting administration knowledge an asset
  • Knowledge of Esilaw an asset
  • Related post secondary education
  • HRP Certificate of Achievement or working towards an HR accreditation
  • 5+ years’ HR generalist experience
  • 2 years general accounting administration an asset
  • Experience in a law office a definite asset
