Responsible for department leadership, the Manager, Corporate Legal Services ensures effective workflow, work assignment, and coverage based on paralegal levels and skills required. The manager reviews work, provides mentorship, promotes professional development, and ongoing training.
Some senior paralegal work with lawyers and clients is involved. CORES 111 and 10 plus years experience with increasing responsibility is required.Â
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the department’s services to clients with a team of skilled professionals for the firm’s tax and business law teams’ corporate transactions.
- Maintenance and delivery of current services, continuous improvement applying best practices and processes, updating of department services and development of new services.
- Maintain up-to-date client accounts, billable time and disbursements, issuing accounts and monitoring payment of outstanding accounts.Â
- Senior Paralegal Responsibilities, supplementing deliverables as demand requires, and providing senior level paralegal services.
- Alberta and Federal incorporations; documentation, annual returnsÂ
- Managing files or parts of a file relating to amalgamations, re-organizations, acquisitions, continuances, private placements, take-overs, Section 85 rollovers, estate freezes, public offerings, joint ventures, formation of partnerships.
- Due Diligence, analysis and preparation required principal and ancillary documents.Â
- Assist in procedures for appointing officers, electing directors and executing documents.
- Research, preparation, and revision of precedents and technical procedures to ensure compliance with current legislation.

Education and Experience
- Completion of a post-secondary Legal Assistant or Paralegal diploma, CORES III.
- A minimum of 10 years’ paralegal experience with increasing senior responsibilities.
